Not Quite a Superhero A Static Alice Book Book 1 edition by Roney Peer Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This book makes absolutely no sense. It starts to get interesting at the 80% Mark; then it ends. Not recommended.
This book was a pleasant surprise. The character were well flushed out. The build up was a tab bit too slow but reading along you can feel everything coming together. Then book flowed well picking up pace till the end.
Our girl has a genetic reason for building up static and giving off an electric charge if she touches things. She has to prevent others from touching her, or discharge somewhere discretely. She short circuits things if she touches anything electric, so has learned to rely on plastic pens to touch anything electric needing finger pressure, and to avoid touching people.
This is the first book in a series, so the scene is being set up for us.
She foiled a group of bank robbers by causing a short circuit, but an attractive present at the same time then really, really wants her go on a date with him. She has the help of her colleagues to try and avoid being alone with him and so prevent any touching from happening.
Then there is a very dangerous situation involving electricity.
We've already met two very different men with secret abilities who may both become interested in her, in later books.
This is a great story with characters whom you come to care about. Static Alice generates static electricity in almost lethal amounts. Adam the metal handsome villain wants to kill someone she knows. Max the insulated tree man wants to help her. Extremely witty.
A static-generating "hero"? I really didn't expect much except some chuckles in reading this, but found it a quite engaging read after all, with delightful characters and an enjoyable plot (complete with some chuckles).
I loved the turn of events. I didn't know what to think until the plot slowly unfolded! The book kept me interested from the Sample given by , until the last page of the book!!!
